GORILLA SUPER GLUE®FAQs

What if I swallow Gorilla Super Glue?

Do not induce vomiting. Saliva will cause Gorilla Super Glue to polymerize, or harden, in mouth which means the adhesive usually doesn't make it into the throat or stomach.

If lips are bonded together, use warm water to gently separate. The enzymes in saliva will actually help to break the bond, so patience is the key.

Do not use acetone or solvents on or near your mouth. Do not attempt to pull the area apart as this can tear the skin. Seek medical attention.

Gorilla Super Glue should be left out of reach of children and animals.

Have questions or comments? Contact the Gorilla Support Team at 1-800-966-3458 (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Eastern Time). For medical emergencies only, call 1-800-420-7186 anytime to reach a member of our product safety team.

How can I prolong the shelf life?

Moisture that gets into the bottle can cause the adhesive to set up and harden. The best practice is to immediately replace the cap and store in a cool, dry location.

There is a metal pin in the cap of Gorilla Super Glue that helps create a tight seal as well as keep the tip clear of dried adhesive.

We do not recommend storing your Gorilla Super Glue in the refrigerator. Because super glue can release gas, it should not be stored near food.

Why is my bottle of Gorilla Super Glue half full?

For high performance and usability, the adhesive needs to be protected from air. One way keep the air out of the adhesive is by packaging in thick plastic bottles. If the thicker plastic bottle was completely full of adhesive, it would be too hard to squeeze the glue out of the bottle.

Can I apply Gorilla Super Glue to a minor cut or to repair a broken fingernail?

Gorilla Super Glue should not be used for intentional contact with the skin.

How do I remove from my skin or my project?

To remove Gorilla Super Glue from your skin, soak the bonded area in warm soapy water or acetone (finger nail polish remover works well). The key is to be patient and NEVER pull the area apart.

Gently wiggle the area to allow the soapy water or acetone to penetrate the bond. After soaking, the adhesive should come off easily. Keep in mind that acetone can strip your skin of oils, so apply moisturizer after removal.

To remove Gorilla Super Glue from the surface of your project, soak bonded area with warm soapy water or acetone. Keep in mind that acetone can mar the surface material or discolor fabric.

Can Gorilla Super Glue withstand extreme cold temperatures?

Gorilla Super Glue can typically be exposed to temperatures ranging from -40°F to 200°F without breaking down.

However, there can be variation to this range due to the way different substrates expand and contract in extreme temperatures.

Is Gorilla Super Glue heat and water resistant?

Gorilla Super Glue works well in temperatures as high as 200°–220°F. However, too much exposure to extreme heat will cause the strength of the bond to be compromised. Likewise, too much exposure to water, especially warm water, can compromise the strength of the bond.

Can I use Gorilla Super Glue on paper?

Yes, it will work on paper. Only apply a small amount. It is not acid free, therefore, not recommended for scrapbooking.

How do I use Gorilla Super Glue?

Gorilla Super Glue is easy to use. It dries in 10-30 seconds and no clamps are needed. Simply clean the surfaces of your project to get rid of dirt, dust and grease. Apply a small amount of Gorilla Super Glue (more isn’t always better; use one drop per square inch). Then put your pieces together and hold for 10-30 seconds. Note that gaps and uneven surfaces may cause delayed bonding.

You can handle your project lightly after 1–5 minutes. Maximum bond strength is achieved after 24 hours.

After you purchase Gorilla Super Glue, make sure to keep the package for tips and directions.

How is Gorilla Super Glue different from Original Gorilla Glue?

Gorilla Super Glue is a cyanoacrylate adhesive, while Gorilla Glue is a polyurethane. Unlike Gorilla Glue, Gorilla Super Glue does not require extended clamp time or moisture to activate. It does not foam during set up. In addition, Gorilla Super Glue is recommended primarily for indoor applications only.
Gorilla Super Glue is ideal for smaller repairs that require an instant bond and projects where clamping is not needed.

What makes Gorilla Super Glue different from ordinary super glue?

Gorilla Super Glue is reinforced with rubber to secure your projects with a less brittle bond. This helps your project resist bumps, bangs and drops. We call it Impact-Tough®.
